October – Fall Fun!
What a fun-filled month we had! We used all our senses as we explored new places and tried new things. We finished up our unit on community helpers by going to the Mapleton Fire Department, which was such an educational experience! The fireman and the EMT taught us many important things about safety in such an interactive way. The kids got to try out the stretcher for the ambulance, try on the fireman’s special suit, and even go for a ride in the fire truck!
As we began learning about fall, we learned about different kinds of trees and what happens to trees and their leaves during the fall.
We also spent a week learning about apples. After noticing how varied apples are in their size and color, we made different projects themed around apples and got to taste different kinds of apples and other apple foods.
As part of learning about fall, we went on another great field trip to Hee Haw Farms! Field trips are such a memorable way to help the children as they learn about the world around them. We saw a lot of farm animals and got to play in the corn, slide down the giant slides, swing, go on a wagon ride, and pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch! What fun!
Lastly, we had a wonderful time celebrating Halloween at preschool! It’s always extra special when the kids get to dress up for school and play new games and celebrate as a class!
Thanks to all the parents who helped this month with our field trips and celebrations! We think you’re wonderful!
